If you’ve updated to 4.1beta2 on iPhone3G or iPod2G(non-MC), you can use this redsn0w from June to jailbreak. Just point it at the 4.0 IPSW (the public one, not the developer GM one).
(Yes – point it at the 4.0 IPSW even though you’re at 4.1beta2).
Don’t do this if you need the ultrasn0w carrier unlock!!
Note 1: This won’t hacktivate your iPhone3G – [...]

Giving us yet another reason to get behind electric, the Japan Electric Vehicle Club recently exceeded its own Guinness record for longest distance driven without recharging, achieving a staggering 1,003.184 km (or about 623 miles).
The club’s Mira EV, a modified Daihatsu Mira, was powered by a Sanyo battery system containing more than 8,320 lithium-ion batteries, the very same kind found in laptop PCs.

A team led by programmer Taeg Sang Cho has developed software that can figure out 400-piece jigsaw puzzles. Previous iterations of the technology needed a helping hand via less pieces or limited colors, but Cho’s program can handle any image or photograph.
To test the software, Cho and his team cut 5-megabyte pictures into even squares (demonstrated above). The program then analyzes the colors present and begins to rearrange the squares based on what they have in common. It’s successfully recreated 20 test images, and can solve a 400-piece puzzle in a scant three minutes.
Sure, squares [...]

We picked our jaws off the floor when we heard about tiny particles being teleported just a foot or two away, but now scientists have topped that by 10 miles. This tech won’t be transporting Kirk and his Away Team to the surface of some distant planet anytime soon, but it has seriously practical applications to communications.
Quantum physics says photons can, in some ways, occupy two places at once. When one photon gets entangled with another, whatever happens to one of those particles also happens to another, even if it’s TEN frickin’ miles away! Now THAT’s a fast connection.
The [...]
