KARACHI: Awami National Party (ANP) Sindh President Shahi Syed on Sunday alleged that some elements were exploiting the people of Hazara Division with backdoor financial help.
Addressing a public gathering here, he said that everybody had the right to do politics in Karachi. The mutual respect, education, humanity and non-violence could ensure the countrys progress, he said.
Syed said that ANP was ready to cooperate with all bodies for the cause of city and country.
He said Sindh belongs to Sindhis, Balochistan to Baloch, Punjab to Punjabis and Khyber Pakhtunkuwa to Pakhtuns.

ISLAMABAD: The abductors of Afghanistans ambassador-designate to Pakistan Abdul Khaliq Farahi, who was kidnapped by armed gunmen from Peshawar in Sept 2008, Sunday released a video in which he was shown pleading to authorities to accept the demands of his captors.
Farahi, 53, was abducted by armed men from the Hayatabad area of Peshawar. His driver was shot dead by the kidnappers.
The diplomat, who hails from Afghanistan”s western Farah province, served as the Consul General in Quetta after the fall of the Taliban regime in Kabul.

QUETTA: At least four policemen including a DSP were injured in a blast here in a remote-controlled bomb explosion in Qambrani area of Sariab in the city, Geo News reported Saturday.
The injured have been shifted to hospital in Edhi ambulances. Two passers-by were also injured in the explosion.
Police and other law enforcement agencies put a security cordon around the blast site and started the search for the culprits.
According to details, the police mobile van which was on patrol in the area, was targeted with the remote-controlled bomb.

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-N leader Nawaz Sharif has strongly denounced the killing of Professor Nazima Talib Mehdi in Quetta, saying the murder of an educationist is tantamount to playing with the future of entire nation.
In a statement issued from Lahore on Tuesday, Nawaz said teachers are the guarantors of nations future.

QUETTA: Unidentified armed men shot dead a renowned educationist Nazima Talib Mehdi on Sariab Road here on Tuesday.
According to police, she was on her way when armed men riding on a bike opened fire, killing her on the spot. Later, the assailants fled.
She was Assistant Professor at Mass Communication Department of the University of Balochistan (UoB).
Her students told APP that she was one of the pioneers of the Mass Communication Department of the UoB. She was also an intellectual and poetess.

QUETTA: The power shortfall rocketed up to 850 Megawatts in Balochistan, as Guddus Och-Sibi circuit number-2 closed down, Geo News reported Wednesday.
The mammoth power crisis has pushed the rural areas to receive only four-hour power supply.
The sources in Quetta Electricity Supply Company (QESCO) said the available electricity shrank to 300 MWs as the Circuit-2 220 KV transmission line in Guddus Och-Sibi was shut down.
Quetta is suffering from 10-hour of load shedding and the span of power outages will swell to 20 hours in rural areas.

The entire city looks draped in mourning air with all educational institutions including Balochistan University closed.

QUETTA: A suicide bomber killed 11 people, including a TV journalist and senior police officials, in an attack inside a hospital in Quetta on Friday.
A member of parliament from the Pakistan People”s Party was among the scores wounded in the attack outside the emergency ward of the hospital in Quetta, the provincial capital of Baluchistan, officials said.
“Eleven people, including two senior police officials, were killed in the attack and another 47 wounded,” police and hospitals sources said.
