ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tuesday vowed full cooperation on US enquiries into a Pakistani-American held over an attempted bombing in New York, throwing the spotlight back onto international terror plots in the country.
US officials said Faisal Shahzad, a naturalised US citizen born in Pakistan, was arrested for allegedly driving a car bomb into Times Square that narrowly failed to explode on Saturday night.

KARACHI: Awami National Party (ANP) Sindh President Shahi Syed on Sunday alleged that some elements were exploiting the people of Hazara Division with backdoor financial help.
Addressing a public gathering here, he said that everybody had the right to do politics in Karachi. The mutual respect, education, humanity and non-violence could ensure the countrys progress, he said.
Syed said that ANP was ready to cooperate with all bodies for the cause of city and country.
He said Sindh belongs to Sindhis, Balochistan to Baloch, Punjab to Punjabis and Khyber Pakhtunkuwa to Pakhtuns.

ISLAMABAD: The abductors of Afghanistans ambassador-designate to Pakistan Abdul Khaliq Farahi, who was kidnapped by armed gunmen from Peshawar in Sept 2008, Sunday released a video in which he was shown pleading to authorities to accept the demands of his captors.
Farahi, 53, was abducted by armed men from the Hayatabad area of Peshawar. His driver was shot dead by the kidnappers.
The diplomat, who hails from Afghanistan”s western Farah province, served as the Consul General in Quetta after the fall of the Taliban regime in Kabul.

PESHAWAR: At least 40 militants were killed and their 10 hideouts were destroyed on Sunday in aerial bombing carried out by security forces in Orakzai Agency.
According to sources, security forces backed by helicopter gunships pounded militant dens situated in Dabori, Ghalju and Khadzai areas. As a result of at least 40 militants were killed and several others injured.
In Orakzai offensive, so far over 550 militants were killed and their 75 hideouts were destroyed in more than five weeks.

PESHAWAR: At least nine extremists were killed and various others injured in security forces action in Orakzai Agency, Geo News reported Sunday.
According to sources, the security forces pounded two hideouts of the extremists in Orakzai Agency area of Dabori from gunship helicopters, killing nine extremists and injuring several others.
The security forces continued today the operation in progress since last five weeks. At least 500 extremists have been killed in the operation and over 65 centers including 13 training centers have been razed down.

One of the most intractable and long standing conflicts in the world is the conflict between India and Pakistan over Kashmir. This conflict started in 1947, on the day after India and Pakistan simultaneously became independent. Three major wars have been fought over this and thousands and perhaps even more than a million people have died. The result so far is that India controls almost two-thirds of Kashmir and Pakistan controls one-third. China controls the rest. The conflict continues.

PESHAWAR: Nine militants were killed and five other were wounded on Saturday in bombings carried out by jet planes in Orakzai Agency.
According to sources, security forces backed by fighter planes carried out bombardment on militants dens in Kasha, Sheikhan and Saif Darra.
So far more than 500 militants have been killed in the ongoing military operation started some five weeks ago.
On the other hand, armed militants stormed a security convoy, leaving a solider, named Phoolzeb injured, who was shifted to a nearby hospital.

PESHAWAR: Mian Iftikhar Hussain, the Information Minister of Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa, has said that the Hazara province matter should not be turned into a Pakhtun or non-Pakhtun issue.
Addressing a news conference here on Thursday, he said nobody should try to do politics in the name of Hazara province.
The brothers of Hazara would be warmly welcomed, Hussain said, adding they would be offered more than their due share.

PESHAWAR: At least 17 suspected terrorists were killed including two chief commandos in fierce clashes with security forces here in Orakzai Agency on Wednesday evening, sources told Geo news.
Security forces lodged crackdown against suspected miscreants in separate parts of Agency including Mishti Melah, Shekhan and others, killing at least 17 suspected insurgents including two top commandos, sources told reporters.

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain on Wednesday renewed an offer to talk to the people of Hazara Division, saying the government respects their views on the renaming of NWFP.
Briefing the media after attending a consultative meeting with Hazara-based MPs, he said a consensus has been reached on seven points in the meeting.
These points include debate on Hazara province and Abaseen in KP Assembly, early completion of judicial inquiry and option of dialogue with the people of Hazara, he announced.
