LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to organise five Twenty20 festival matches before the T20 World Cup while the Pentangular One-day Cricket Tournament will be starting from April 17.
Talking with media here at the Gaddafi Stadium on Thursday, chief selector Mohsin Khan said that these festival matches would be played at Hyderabad, Multan, Faisalabad, Abbottabad and Islamabad while the one-day Pentangular Cup would be held from April 17.
He said that all players of the Pakistan team would take part in these matches from which they would get an opportunity of good practice.

LAHORE: Chief selector of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Hasan Khan said the decision of PCB to punish players on discipline violation was right.
Talking to media, Mohsin said if such step will be taken 14 years ago, cricket would be free of such violations. He said now the player who will be fit and disciplined will play for Pakistan.
Chief selector said ban and fine will be abolish if players admit mistakes and tender written apology. Replying to a question, he conveyed best wishes for Shoaib and Sania.

ISLAMABAD: Chief operating officer of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Wasim Bari said that Mohammad Yousuf s announcement of retirement is his personal decision and to include him in the team depends on the selection committee.
While talking with media here on Tuesday, Wasim Bari said that the series between Pakistan and South Africa would be held in United Arab Emirates from October 28.
He said that Pakistan is losing the home advantage due to lack of international cricket in the country.

KARACHI: Former captain of Pakistan cricket team Muhammad Yousuf has decided to get retirement from international cricket.
According to sources, the reason behind Yousufs retirement was the punishment awarded to him by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
PCB had banned Muhammed Yousuf from international cricket for life. Yousuf will formally announce the decision in Karachi Press Club on Monday.

KARACHI: Pakistan”s Twenty20 captain Shahid Afridi is the first to appeal against his punishment following a disastrous tour of Australia that saw the country”s cricket board come down hard on top players.
Afridi was among seven players who were punished by a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) inquiry committee, set up to investigate the team”s dismal performance on the December-February tour.

LAHORE: Allrounder Shahid Khan Afridi has been appointed captain of the national team for the Twenty20 Cricket World Cup to be held in West Indies from April 30.
Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Ijaz Butt decided to appoint Afridi as captain after consulting with the PCB think tank and team coach Waqar Younis.
This may be recalled that chief selector Mohsin Khan had announced the team for the T20 World Cup on march 12 but left the appointment of captain on discretion of the PCB chairman who after eleven days has now finally announced it.

LAHORE: Two Twenty20 matches will be played today at Gaddafi Stadium to mark Pakistan Day, Geo News reported Tuesday.
Pakistan A will take on Under-19 in the first match; and the winners of this match will later on have showdown with Pakistan team.
Geo Super will live telecast both the matches.
The first match will start at 10am and the second will be played at 6pm.

LAHORE: Former captain Shoaib Malik came today to file an appeal against his one-year ban slapped by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) but he postponed his plan and said that he would file the appeal after a week.
The PCB on March 10 had announced bans and fines on seven players on the recommendations of the inquiry committee formed to investigate the Pakistan teams embarrassing performance on the tour of Australia.
The board on March 15 announced an arbitrary panel of three retired judges with an approval from the governing body.

ISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Ijaz Butt said that he is under tremendous pressure to sell five acres of land of the National Stadium Karachi to a party.
Ijaz Butt said before the Public Accounts Committee of the National Assembly that the colonies of the Army and the Judges are situated on 18 acres of land belonging to the National Stadium while he is being pressurised for selling five acres of land to a party.

LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has awarded central contracts to 37 players but it ignored five senior cricketers Shoaib Akhtar, Rana Naved-ul-Hasan and former captains Younis Khan, Mohammad Yousuf and Shoaib Malik while announcing the central contracts here on Friday.
The PCB has placed 18 players in three categories while 19 cricketers have succeeded in getting special monthly stipends.
Shahid Afridi, Kamran Akmal, Umar Gul, Salman Butt, Abdul Razzaq, Mohamamd Asif and Danish Kaneria were placed in “A” category and they will earn Rs250,000 a month.
