OCZ Technology, leadding manufacturers of flash based storage devices recently introduced two new Solid State Drive series – Vertex 2 and Agility 2. Both the Vertex 2 and Agility 2 SSD comes designed with the 2.5-inch MLC-based SSDs.
OCZ Vertex 2 and Agility 2 SSD uses the SATA II interface and will be available in 50GB, 100GB, 200GB capacities. The company claims that these SSD’s are an excellent solution for customers who are looking for better transfer rates and best-in-class input/output per second (IOPS) for a wide range of uses, ranging from entertainment to workstation and tier 2 storage applications.
OCZ Vertex 2 series SSD features 4KB random writes up to 50,000 IOPS and transfer rates up to 285MB/s read and 275MB/s write. On the other hand OCZ Agility 2 SSD offers 4KB random writes up to 10,000 IOPS at a more affordable price and has the same transfer rate as that of the Vertex 2 SSD. Both the SSD’s comes with support to the Windows 7 TRIM commands. Vertex 2 and Agility 2 will begin shipping in the next few weeks through OCZ’s extensive global channel. Both series come backed by a three-year warranty.
At the same time, Vertex 2 and Agility 2 series SSD’s are now available at Amazon. The prices of the SSD’s are $260, $ 481, $ 923 for the 50GB Vertex 2, 100Gb Vertex 2 and 200GB Vertex 2 SSD while the 50GB Agility 2, 100GB Agility 2 and 200GB Agility 2 SSD‘s are priced at $247, $455, $ 871 respectively.
