Microsoft Corp. co-founder Paul Allen Sues Apple and Other Companies Over Patents

email

WSJ reported that Microsoft Corp. co-founder Paul Allen has filed law suit against 11 technology giant companies including Google, YouTube, Facebook, eBay, Apple, Yahoo, AOL, Netflix, Office Depot, OfficeMax, and Staples to protect the intellectual property of Allen’s former technology incubator company Interval Research Corporation.

You may notice that Microsoft and Amazon are not targeted by Allen’s law suit probably because of Allen’s deep tie with Microsoft on other hand Amazon’s HQ is located in buildings owned by Allen.

According to the press release:

“Interval Licensing holds patents of Interval Research, the former company founded by Allen and David Liddle in 1992 to perform advanced research and development in the areas of information systems, communications, and computer science. The patents in the lawsuit cover fundamental web technologies first developed at Interval Research in the 1990s, which the company believes are being infringed by major e-commerce and web search companies.”
