
If you like an app on your iOS device but do not like its icon then this is not a big deal to replace that icon with any other of your choice.
To change app icon on iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad is possible through a freeware iPhone Explorer and especially you do not need to jailbreak your device to get it to work.
Guide to Change App Icon on iPhone 4 without Jailbreak:
Step 1
Download and install iPhone Explorer on Mac or PC
Step 2
Attach your iPhone to your system and launch iPhone Explorer
Step 3
Navigate to this path iPhone name/Apps/appname/appname.app where you have to replace iPhone name and appname with your own specific values

There you will find a file with name icon@2x.png, so backup it to any other location
Step 5
Rename your replacement icon with the same name as icon@2x.png (its case-sensitive) and drag it to the above specified path of step 3
Keep it in mind that your replacement icon must be a .PNG file, 114 x 114 size, 72 PPI with no transparency and no layers
Step 6
Delete the original icon@2x.png which is saved on other location
Step 7
Now, simply restart your iPhone and have a look, the icon of that specific app will be replaced with new icon
Note: This guide perfectly works for iPhone 4, whereas iPhone 3GS and 3G users should use the replacement icon file of 57 x 57 size and .PNG format.
