Here is Why and How you want to Quit Smoking Cigarette

email

Smoking is considered to be cool, sexy, good for your health and so widely enjoyed that it is actually promoted by sportsmen, well this was in the era’s before the 70’s! Not now. The last cigarette advertisements allowed to air was on January 1, 1971 and since then warnings labels were printed on cigarette packs.
US cigarette manufacturers now make more money selling cigarettes to countries around the globe than they do selling to Americans! This reminds me of a very memorable warning about drugs and smoking, it goes “Only dopes use dope!” In fact in a study led by Prof. Mark Weiser of Department of Psychiatry of Tel Aviv University has determined that young men who smoke are likely to have lower IQs than their non-smoking peers. What made this result more significant is that the study also measured effects in twin brothers, in the case where once twin smoked, the non-smoking twin registered a higher IQ on average. If the smokers aren’t very concerned about their risks of lung and throat cancer I hope that the above study hits right on the target or else I seriously doubt their IQ.
Every year 3,000 ‘non-smoking’ adults die of disease caused by exposure to second hand smoke, this justifies my way of approach for writing this article. Coughing, phlegm, chest discomfort, reduced lung function and 20% of asthma patients experience more asthma attacks which are not because of increased pollution but because of Second hand smoke!
The smoker, I believe has a ‘heart’ which despite of high risk of coronary disease apparently still has the ability to love his family and partner (if any), is probably thinking well I could try quitting for them but how will I be benefited, you see its humane to be selfish and is acceptable as well cause at least later he wont be the reason for others discomfort. So here are the benefits:
You can “taste and smell food better!!”
Your breath smells better!
Your cough goes away which used to disturb your sleep at nights.
Of course, cuts down the risks of many scary cancers, heart disease, stroke, other lung disease and other respiratory illnesses.
The marketing guru’s predict that the price of cigarettes will continue to rise in coming years, thus quitting will be financially rewarding!!

The next Big Question: How to QUIT?!
Having a friend quit smoking with you makes it easy for you! And of course for him/her as well.
Notice when and why you smoke. Find the things that you do while you’re smoking.
You have a smoking routine? Change it..
Keep your cigarettes in different place.
Smoke with your other hand! (This one helps)

Don’t do anything else when smoking, instead think about how you feel when you smoke. (Like it’s burning your lungs slowly…)
Smoke only in certain places, such as outdoors.
When you want a cigarette, wait a few minutes! Chew gum or drink a glass of water.
Switch to a brand of cigarettes you don’t like!
When you get the urge to smoke, do something else instead. Carry other things to put in your mouth, such as gum, hard candy or a toothpick.
If you do that, reward yourself! Catch up with best buds, go watch movie and enjoy your favourite meal.
Staying Quit:
Don’t worry if you are sleepier or more short-tempered than usual, these feelings will PASS.
TRY exercise or an easy option, go for long bike rides!
Imagine how happy your parents are.
Start money jar with the money you save by not buying cigarettes.
Feeling hungry is sometimes mistaken for the desire to smoke!! Just eat regularly. You can use the saved money for this purpose.
Let others know that you have quit smoking, most people will support.
If you slip and smoke don’t be discouraged. Many former smokers tried to stop several times before they finally succeeded. Quit again because it’s easy as many have tried hundreds of time.  ;)
Please visit of local pharmacy shop and ask for a Nicotine patches or nicotine gums, these products help you recover from the withdrawal symptoms of quitting smoking. If you need more help visit a doctor.
