Review: Motorola Atrix 2

Hands on: Motorola Atrix 2 review The original Motorola Atrix smartphone was a powerful device that doubled as a pseudo laptop or AV centre – you could connect it to an HDTV in your living room or the LCD on your desk and run a Linux variant with full keyboard and mouse. The Atrix 2 adds a few twists, and is a powerful phone that falls in the same league as the Samsung Galaxy S2. One of those new twists is an 8-megapixel camera, now becoming standard on the hottest Android models. We decided to put this upgraded camera through some serious tests, knowing it is the one major improvement [...]

Review: Motorola Razr Android

Hands on Motorola Razr review: Handling Motorola has stayed true to its roots with its latest release – the Motorola Razr. Named after the popular clamshell handset which was released back in 2004, Moto is relying on seven years of brand building in the hope that its newest handset can compete against a new wave of smartphones – including the recently announced Samsung Galaxy Nexus. When it comes to looks, the Motorola Razr is nothing like its past namesake. Moto has dropped the clamshell look for a chassis that’s ultra-thin – it’s a mere 7.1mm. Motorola is claiming this makes [...]

Motorola Xoom 2 tablets Pictures leaked both around 9mm thick

There’s nothing like a family portrait, and the Xoom 2 brothers have paired up for this year’s Christmas card shot — or at least for an anonymous tipster’s latest leak. These pictured tablets give us a better look at the rear-facing buttons we heard about last week, which appear to be a power button and a volume rocker. The smaller sibling sports the same “Fleming” moniker we saw in yesterday’s images, the same 8.2-inch screen size as previously reported, and appears to be about as thick as a 9.3mm iPhone 4. Combining with This is My Next’s intel, [...]

How to Root Motorola Droid 3, X2, Cliq On Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread

Motorola’s popular Droid 3 smartphone has finally received an easy rooting method and we’ll be guiding our readers on how to go about the procedure in this guide today. For the uninitiated, ‘rooting’ is a process by which users can get privileged access to their smartphone. The term is specific for Android devices and its equivalent in the iOS world is called ‘jailbreaking’, which I’m sure our readers are aware of as it is a regular topic here on Redmond Pie. The root for the Motorola Droid 3 on Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread comes from RootzWiki, a developer forum for Android which seems [...]

Motorola Droid Bionic Leaked Pictures

We’re getting tired of all this teasing without any payoff, but when it comes Motorola’s forthcoming dual-core Droid, we can’t help ourselves. Just days ago we saw the Bionic’s guts when it passed through the FCC, and now we’ve got fresh pics of the phone in the wild. This most recent sneak peek comes courtesy of Howard Forums user ceb unit, who posted a couple photos of the device after a Moto rep let a friend get handsy with the newest Droid. It’s good to see civilians get their paws on one, but enough already, we want shots of this thing in the hands of some [...]

Apple Suing Motorola over Xoom Patent Infringements

Apple is suing Motorola in Germany over the design of the Motorola Xoom and its similarities to the iPad, according to small print another court case. The notes were spotted in Apple’s complaint against Samsung over the Galaxy Tab 10.1, which saw sales of Samsung’s tablet suspended in Europe as the courts granted Apple a preliminary injunction. The Motorola Xoom could go the way of the Tab 10.1 in Europe if the courts rule in favour of Apple again, although the notes do not clarify whether Apple has requested an injunction in this case. Xoom, and the tablet’s gone The Motorola [...]
