Google Instant Search was released a few minuets ago and was made live on Google.com for all the U.S. users.Instant Search is a new search enhancement that shows results as you type. However, if you would like to turn it off and disable it, follow the instructions below. How to Disable Google Instant Search When you type your search and it shows live results, look for the small line next to the search box that says “Instant is on”. Click on that and from the drop down menu, select Off (press Enter to search). That will turn off Instant Search.

The discovery of a similar looking character in an arcade-style action game of 90s by Atari titled, Gauntlet: The Third Encounter has caused much stir in the blogosphere today. Google’s Android logo has turned out to be a look alike of one of the characters of the game. Surprisingly, even the name of the character (“Android”) is same, among others namely Wizard, Valkyrie, Samurai, Gunfighter, Pirate, Punk Rocker, and Nerd. Google has announced a new feature of Priority Inbox for Gmail which divides the user’s Inbox mail messages in three sections as Important and unread, Starred and Everything else. According to Google official blog: “As messages come in, Gmail automatically flags some of them as important. Gmail uses a variety of signals to predict which messages are important, including the people you email most and which messages you open and reply to (these are likely more important than the ones you skip over). Speedbook. Add that one to your spell-checkers, everyone, as it looks like that’ll be the name of a future Google-branded product. But what is it? An e-reader? A speedy notebook? A new page-turning technology for lazy fans of traditional paper media? We have no idea, and neither does Bnet’s Erik Sherman who unearthed the application while enjoying a casual, moonlit browse through the US Patent database.The only clue is that Google filed the request under the “Computer Hardware” category, so it’s something physical, at least.

Having a hard time keeping track of all of those little (and sometimes not so little) companies Google’s been snatching up? Here’s every last one, as well as when they were bought and what Big G’s using them for. But I especially appreciate how the people at Scores sorted the acquisitions into two columns: revenue-building and competitor revenue-cutting. Business! It’s so simple.

It’s official. Google has acquired Like.com. In a post on Like.com’s homepage, the company’s CEO and Founder Munjal Shah writes that the visual search engine has been bought by Google. We originally reported the acquisition last weekend. While terms of the deal were not disclosed, we’ve heard it’s valued at upwards of $100 million. Shah’s message doesn’t really give us any hints as to what Google will be doing with Like.com but he alludes to the fact that he (and his team) will continue to work on visual search and cross-matching in e-commerce for the search giant. In mid July, Google announced that they will not sell Nexus One on their Web Store just after the finish of their current stock. Then just after a few days, Nexus One was no longer available from the online store but Google still had some phones for their official developers. Google has announced a new format of ads for iPad developers which provides a way to monetize the applications. Now, iPad developers can display ads beside their iPad applications through Google AdSense. According to official Google blog: “The new iOS SDK supports ad serving in iPad apps using three of the most common online ad formats, instantly making it easier for developers to grow their businesses and for advertisers to expand their presence to the iPad.” Right now, the Google AdSense feature for iPad is only available for the developers of US or Canada.
