Samsung’s outing two new affordable cameras: the HMX-E10, a 1080p pocket cam with a handy 270-degree swiveling lens and the 14.2MP ST80 point-and-shoot, which packs Wi-Fi for beaming photos and 720p video directly to YouTube, Facebook and the rest. The HMX-E10′s swiveling lens isn’t the first we’ve seen, but it’s a welcome addition in the vanilla world of pocket cams. This one has a 1/3.2 inch CMOS sensor and shoots 1080p, 30fps HD video, and it has some built-in effects like pencil-sketch, tilt-shift, and vignetting for when you’re feeling a little creative. Never mind the extensive leaks, Panasonic, you’ve got a right to be proud about the HDC-SDT750. After crowing about its end-to-end 3D experience, Panasonic has finally made its HDC-SDT750 camcorder official, which looks like it will be the first of its kind to hit the market. Sure, this is just a baby step: the 3D mode is enabled by snapping on an included 3D conversion lens that splits the image in twain to be recorded as right and left images by the standard 1080p sensor. That means each side will only be 960 x 1080, so you can’t quite shoot Avatar in your backyard just yet, [...]

We’d heard Panasonic was planning a more affordable stereoscopic 3D camcorder, but it looks like we won’t have to wait until a mysterious July 28th Tokyo unveiling to find out for sure — it’s called the HDC-SDT750, and Panny’s advertising it as the “World’s first 3D Shooting Camcorder.” Leaks at all the seams of the company’s website afforded us the above picture, and the surprising revelation that the product may not be a brand-new camcorder, but rather an existing high-end 3MOS model (we’d guess the HDC-HS700) with a “3D [...]

Along with the DMC-FZ100, Panasonic has also announced the Lumix DMC-FZ40 superzoom (FZ45 in Europe). Slotting in where the FZ38/35 left off, it features the same 25-600mm equiv. lens as the FZ100, but with a 14.1MP CCD sensor and simpler 230K dot 3.0 inch fixed LCD (as opposed to the FZ100′s CMOS sensor and high-res screen). The FZ40 also offers AVCHD Lite 720p HD video recording, manual shooting modes and ‘Sonic Speed’ auto-focus system that the company says offers the industry’s fastest focus times. The European FZ45 version is limited to 29 minutes video recording. [...]

Fujifilm has released the FinePix Z800EXR premium ultra-compact. A successor to the Z700EXR, the camera features a second-generation EXR CCD that incorporates sensors for the company’s new Hybrid autofocus system. The camera automatically chooses between using the contrast-detection AF method used in compact cameras and the phase-detection method usually used in DSLRs to offer DSLR-like autofocus times. The camera also inherits the 3.5″ touch screen LCD and 5x (35-175mm equiv.) optical zoom lens from its predecessor. Fujifilm’s latest Touch Screen Sensation: the FinePix [...]
