Google Chrome finally coming to Android

A snippet of code posted on Google’s Chromium Code website reveals that Google’s Chrome browser is to be ported to its Android smartphone operating system. It may seem like an obvious move for the two Google-operated products, but they’ve been run as completely separate entities – until now. The Chromium website hosts Google’s open-source features for the browser, and generally everything that appears there will later be integrated into the browser itself. The Chrome Android code currently lacks the tabbed browsing and plug-ins that adorn its desktop counterpart. Get [...]

Ice Cream Sandwich coming in October or November – Eric Schmidt

Got your sights set on the next version of Android, codenamed Ice Cream Sandwich? We knew it was coming near the end of the year, but we now at least have a slightly more specific time frame straight from the horse’s mouth. Google’s own Eric Schmidt revealed in an interview with Salesforce.com’s Marc Benioff that ICS — the highly-anticipated update to Android that will merge elements of Honeycomb and Gingerbread into one universal OS — can be expected to arrive in October or November. Download File Expert App For Android

What may seem like technology thought up for insert-some-Bond-flick-here, the File Expert Android app has added NFC functionality to its latest build — making single-tap transfers a new reality. Like the previous rendition, it uses Bluetooth to send data, but a friendly bump replaces the traditional pairing process, speeding up the exchange dramatically (like we said, perfect for overworked spies). We’ve seen magic like this before, and we’ll certainly see more like it as NFC becomes more ubiquitous, but what’s next? NFC-to-NFC file transfers, no middleman required. Fist [...]
