
Last month Apple revealed its new privacy policy and according to that Apple can collect information about the geographical location of iPhone, iPod, iPad and Mac systems and could also share that with its partners for unspecified purposes.
Just after few days of Apple’s above statement of user’s data collection federal lawmakers sent out a written letter with listed questions to Steve Jobs to explain the new Apple’s privacy policy in detail by 12 July 2010.
Now according to latimes report Apple handed over the documents back to authorities where company explained in detail it’s users’s data collection and sharing policy.
“Apple noted that user location information cannot be collected unless a user has the device’s location-services turned on, and has allowed individual applications such as Google Maps or Yelp to use location data. For many users, these settings are set the first time they use a device and application, but not seen frequently afterward.”
