MUMBAI: As a perceived snub to Pakistani players by the Indian Premier League (IPL) spark a spat between the neighbouring countries, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, an IPL franchisee himself, believes they should have been picked.
“I truly believe they (Pakistan players) should have been chosen,” Khan, co-owner of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), said.
Khan however said that since “some issues” were involved the matter could have been handled by the IPL “respectfully”.

SRINAGAR: Thousands of villagers in occupied Kashmir held noisy demonstrations on Sunday, accusing the army of killing a Kashmiri youth.
Protesters were chanting slogans for independence.
It may be reminded that the Kashmiri youth was killed by the Indian troops yesterday in the southern district of Pulwama.
Protesters chanted “blood for blood” and “we want freedom” as they carried the dead body through the streets.
Indian army used power to disperse the protesters, injuring at least 10.

TEHRAN: An Iranian passenger plane crash landed Sunday in thick fog in the northeastern city of Mashhad and caught fire, injuring at least 46 people.
According to Iranian official sources, the rear end of the Russian-built Tupolev 154 plane owned by Taban Airline and piloted by a Russian caught fire as the aircraft landed in the fog.
The plane, traveling from Abadan in southwest Iran to Mashhad, had 170 passengers on board, mostly Hajis.
However, no death was reported in the incident.

MINGORA: A militant commander and close aide of Fazlullah Rahim Wahid was killed in a clash with security forces here in Swat while three more militants were taken out in an action in Khyber Agency.
According to sources, the militant commander was killed in a clash with security forces in Imam Dheri area of Swat.

RAWALPNINDI: Former prime minister Azad Kashmir and chief of Muslim Conference Sardar Atiq has said that Indias secret agency RAW is involved in suicide attacks in Azad Kashmir.
Addressing a program here, Sardar Atiq condemned what he said atrocities being unleashed by the Indian troops in the Occupied Kashmir and urged the international community to completely boycott India.

KARACHI: Awami National Party Sindh President Shahi Syed on Sunday urged all section of the society to strengthen the government in its bid to get rid of terrorists from the country.

LAHORE: The District Flying Association announced on Sunday to celebrate basant in Lahore from Feb 20 to 21.
On the other hand, Punjabs Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said the Punjab Assembly has not given any permission in this connection.
The DFA said that basant would be celebrated in line with the safety measures chalked out by the government.
